(ETA) and ETIAS

An Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) and ETIAS (European Travel Information and Authorization System) are both digital entry permits that allow visa-exempt travelers to visit certain countries. Both are designed to improve security by screening travelers before they arrive. As of January 8, 2025, an electronic travel authorization (ETA) is now required for those arriving in the UK. Applications are typically processed in 3 days. This ETA is linked directly to your passport and it allows you to visit multiple times over a 2 year period or until your passport expires whichever is first. As of now ETIAS is not currently in operation and will not start in the first half of 2025. No action is required at this point. ETIAS will inform us several months prior to its launch. Click here to learn more about the similarities and differences between the 2 authorizations.
